SAFARI GREAT SAND SEA

We start our day at the Siwa House Museum, where we have a glimpse of the traditional life and heritage of the oasis. We then head to Shali, the famous ancient fortress in the middle of town. We wander through its narrow streets that once housed the entire population of Siwa and climb all the way to the top, so you can enjoy the an amazing panoramic view.

On our way down we pass the traditional souq (market) which offer all sorts of local and traditional handicrafts. We stop at the newly opened Pottery School and the Black Lion’s Library, which holds a one of a kind collection documentation on the oasis. You have free time to enjoy lunch in one of the local restaurants.

With our local safari driver, we embark on our adventure to the Great Sand Sea, one of the most unforgettable experiences to live in the oasis. Enjoy roaring over the sand dunes, see fossilized corals and have some fun practicing sand boarding. On top of the dunes, you will admire one of the most memorable sunsets while enjoying a campfire with Bedouin tea. Dinner will be prepared and served under the stars so you an unforgetable experience. 

TIPS FOR A BETTER EXPERIENCE

• Bring your ID: : As we enter one of Siwa’s protectorate areas, a special permission with ID is needed. 
  
  
• Bring your swimwear: Although we are goint to the Great Sand Sea, the desert is full of surprises!
  
  
• Dress comfortably: Wear comfortable clothing and keep in mind that at night the weather in the desert can get chilli.  

   

• Bring personal essentials: Your camera or smartphone, power bank and special care items.

   

• Carry cash: While some places may accept cards, it’s advisable to carry cash, especially in local shops and markets.

   

• Respect the environment and local culture: Siwa Oasis is a place of natural beauty and cultural significance. Please respect local customs.

   

• Stay hydrated: The desert climate can be hot and dry, so remember to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

   

• Be mindful of your surroundings: Siwa is a natural oasis with delicate ecosystems. Avoid disturbing wildlife, or collecting too many fossils or antiquities.
