We start the day from where it all began: Siwa’s greatest historical treasure, the ancient Orcale Temple or Amun Temple. Alexander the Great himself crossed the entire desert, in 331 BC, to consult its divine authority. We then head to the outskirts to the azure blue waters of the natural salt lakes. Floating in the high salinity is known to be beneficial and healing for your health, revitalizing body and soul.
We pass by Dakrour mountain, as the road takes us to the famous ancient Cleopatra spring or Joba, in the Siwan language. You can wash off the salt by plunging into the natural water, while enjoying freshly homemade juices.
Our last stop in town is Gabl Mawta (Mountain of the Dead): Siwa’s largest necropolis. Over 2000 pharaonic graves have been discovered in one single mountain. Some graves still have their original colors and their hieroglyphics, dating back to 600 BC. Climb to the top of the mountain for a beautiful panorama view over the oasis.
We will leave town to enjoy what makes Siwa so unique: the sunset overlooking its green gardens, enormous lake and the sand dunes. As night fallts, we head back to a natural hot spring camp, where after a freshly prepared local dinner, you can treat yourself to a comfortable natural spa.
