Siwa East:

Al Zeytuna abandoned village

The remarkable little village of Al Zayton, gives a great impression of how the people used to live not so long ago. A pretty intact ancient olive oil press, a mosque, a small market place, are traces of civilization. The remains of a small Roman temple are to be found in the middle of the village ruins.

Around 10 kilometers down the road, we find the Bedouin village of Ein Safi. Still inhabited today by Siwa’s Bedouin Tribe, this village is famous for its production of woolen carpets, as traditionally the Bedouins used to profit from the wool of their live stocks.
