Siwa has many salt lakes which are famous for their salt purity and are five times more saline than our oceans. Did you know that the salt lakes have just been recently been discovered?! If you would have come to Siwa ten years ago, this beautiful spot would have not been on your list. Today the salt lakes are very famours for photography lovers and those who seek it’s therapeutical properties. Even if you don’t know how to swim, you will be able to take a dip as its impossible to sink. 

Salt is harvested commercialy for industrial and culinary use. Once a pool is excavated, it slowly starts to fill itself up with salt again and after around a year, the process starts all over.
