Shiata Desert Lake:

A mirage

Shiata Lake, is the first natural salt water lake in the old route to Libya. Thus stunnig lake at the edge of the Great Sand Sea is surrounded by beautiful rocky mountains on one side, bright golden sand dunes and wild palm trees on the other. Ruins of a small house, once home to a Bedouin family, still lay by the shore. Shiata lake is a popular stop for migratory birds, including flamingoes and due to its remoteness, wild life thrives.

Legend tells that the lake used to be much larger and that a seven meter ancient boat lies somewhere under the surface.
